KB721 | Guide to Publishing Articulate Rise 360 Content Files: Best Practices and Tips

Overview

This guide offers tips and best practices to ensure effective integration and optimal use of Articulate Rise 360 files in GyrusAim.

1. Navigation Controls

Configuring navigation settings correctly ensures learners can progress through the course as intended.

For detailed instructions, refer to Articulate's guide to navigation settings.

2. Final Score Reporting

Proper configuration of final scores ensures accurate tracking in the LMS.

  • Key Considerations:
    • Select the most relevant scoring source for your training goals.
    • Use the LMS Reporting options to determine completion and success statuses (e.g., Completed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed).
    • Combine multiple quizzes into a final assessment if needed.
  • Bonus Step - Test Before Deployment:
    • Use SCORM Cloud to verify final score reporting before uploading to the LMS.

For detailed tracking settings, refer to Articulate’s Publishing an LMS Package

3. Shorten File Name Length

Long file names can cause upload errors in the LMS due to path length limitations.

  • Solution:
    • Use short, descriptive file names for SCORM packages.
    • Example:
      • Rename: extremely_long_course_name_with_multiple_characters.zip to course.zip.
  • Potential Error Messages:
    • “Excessive number of subfolders in the zip file”
    • “Could not find a part of the path…”

4. Naming Conventions and Avoiding Duplicate File Names

Adhere to standard naming conventions for file names to reduce the risk of errors and ensure consistency.

·       Solutions:

o   Avoid using special characters in file names (e.g., @, #, %, etc.).

o   Ensure each file has a unique name; do not reuse file names.

5. Testing and Quality Assurance, Debug mode

Testing your course before deployment ensures a seamless learner experience.

  • Steps:
    • Preview the course in Articulate Rise 360 to confirm functionality.
    • Upload the SCORM package to SCORM Cloud to validate compatibility.
    • Check for issues with navigation, quizzes, and final score reporting.

If there are persistent issues, Articulate has a debug mode. For debugging specific LMS errors, see Articulate's guide on enabling LMS debug mode.
