KB650 | v17 | Ad Hoc Certificate Creation

Creating and Managing Custom Training Certificates in Gyrus v17.x

Gyrus v17.x allows administrators to create custom course completion certificates and apply them to trainings via the “Select Certificate” drop-down in the training setup.

Custom certificates are managed through DevExpress, a third-party reporting tool. DevExpress provides tutorials and resources for designing and editing reports. Additional guidance is available in KB628: Ad-Hoc Reporting in the Gyrus Help Library.


Step 1: Access the Custom Certificate Module

  1. From your Dashboard or Navigation Menu, click Reporting to open the report module.

  2. Navigate to Custom Type and select the Certificate Template tab.

  3. Click the Add (+) button to create a new certificate template.

Step 2: Create a New Certificate Template

  1. The Add New Report/Certificate popup will appear. Fill in the required fields and click Save.

  2. The Report Help Wizard will open. You can either:

    • Let the wizard guide you step-by-step, or

    • Select Create report using wizard and refer to KB628: Ad-Hoc Reporting or DevExpress Tutorials if needed.

  3. The Report Designer will open, allowing you to design and edit the certificate template.

Tip: To change the background image

  • Ensure the correct template is selected in Properties.

  • Click the 3 dots in the image field to browse and select a new image.

Once created, a custom certificate can be applied to new or existing trainings. If applied to a training already completed by learners, the updated certificate will appear on their transcripts.

Step 3: Apply a Custom Certificate to Training

  1. Open the training setup page for the course.

  2. From the Select Certificate dropdown, choose your custom certificate template.

Step 4: Delete a Custom Certificate

  1. Click the three-bar menu (⋮) next to the certificate name.

  2. Select Delete to remove the certificate.

Note: Certificates that have already been applied to a training cannot be deleted.

Common Troubleshooting for Custom Certificates

Issue
Possible Cause

New certificate doesn’t appear in the Select Certificate dropdown
Report Designer changes not saved or browser cache issue
Ensure the certificate template is Saved in Report Designer. Clear browser cache or refresh the training setup page.
Background image not displaying
Incorrect image format or invalid path
Use a supported format (PNG or JPEG). Confirm the correct template is selected in Properties and the image path is valid.
Unable to delete a certificate
Certificate is already applied to a training
Certificates applied to trainings cannot be deleted. Create a new template instead.
Report Help Wizard not loading
Browser compatibility or network issue
Try a different browser, clear cache, or ensure a stable internet connection.
Certificate not visible to learners
Certificate not selected in the training setup or transcript not refreshed
Confirm the custom template is selected in training setup. For completed trainings, refresh the learner’s transcript view.
